14U is the final age division in the BGCRE Softball program. Our hope is that every 14U player has developed a love for softball as a practical recreational player and has developed the skills set necessary to play high school softball.
At completion of our 14U Divsion, a BGCRE Softball player should be versed in all aspects of the game, including how to approach and prepare for practice, off-season training, pre-game preparation, drills execution, working knowledge of the key rules, skills at multiple defensive positions, offensive and defensive strategies and execution – and most importantly, an enjoyment of the game, which allows our 14U players to compete at the best of their abilities, while displaying sportsmanship on and off the field.
By the end of the season, we want our 14U players to be able to:
-- Honor the game with respect for Rules, Opponents, Officials, Teammates, and Self (ROOTS).
-- Approach the practice and pre-game warm ups physically and mentally prepared
-- Understand coaching strategies and offensive/defensive signals.
-- Know when to be aggressive or conservative when hitting, base-running and fielding/throwing.
-- Be mentally prepared to respond to the countless variables that each pitch brings based on game situation, both offensively and defensively.
-- End the season knowing they have achieved maximum individual results in a way that contributes to their team’s overall goals.
